Florasophy fiber blends
Learn more about Florasophy's supplements and uses.
Florasophy contains partially hydrolyzed guar gum (Sunfiber®), organic ground chia seed, organic acacia gum, konjac root (glucomannan), and organic psyllium husk (in Daily Fix and Firm Up formulas). Read the scientific research showing the health benefits of each of Florasophy's ingredients.
Florasophy is free from gluten, dairy, egg, soy, corn and nuts.
Typical drug store brands are 100% psyllium husk which is one of the ingredients in our Daily Fix and Firm Up blends.
Psyllium husk is beneficial for digestion, hypertension and cholesterol, and has been shown to feed some species of beneficial bacteria in the gut. However, most brands are not organic and contain additives like maltodextrin.
Maltodextrin is a byproduct from potato, rice, corn or wheat that can contain trace toxins and has been linked to side effects such as allergic reactions, weight gain, gas, flatulence, and bloating. Maltodextrin may also cause a rash or skin irritation, asthma, cramping, or difficulty breathing.
Florasophy, on the other hand, contains 4-5 different fibers, depending on the blend, does not contain fillers or additives and is a certified Made with Organic product by Oregon Tilth.
This was an intentional design because different fibers do different things, much like different vegetables do different things and we wanted our product to be as clean and health-promoting as possible. All of these fibers bind toxins, cholesterol and hormones in the gut.
Here is a quick review of why we chose these fibers:
Psyllium husk: Gut motility and healthy bowel movements; feeds beneficial bacteria, reduces blood pressure, reduces LDL cholesterol
Acacia: Reduces BMI/body fat; feeds beneficial bacteria; increases short chain fatty acids, reduces blood pressure
PCGG (Sunfiber): Relieves both constipation and diarrhea; feeds beneficial bacteria; reduces bloating
Konjac: Weight loss; improves blood sugar; reduces cholesterol
Chia: Improves blood sugar balance, improves stool consistency and motility; removes toxins.
Florasophy has a gentle, light nutty taste. It can easily be mixed into drinks or food without impacting taste.
No. Most flavoring sources are artificial and are simply another component for your body to process and detox. For that reason, we’ve not introduced additional flavoring components to Florasophy.
Yes, all the ingredients are plant-based.
Yes, all our fiber blends are gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease.
Florasophy is a food-grade product that is generally safe for all consumers. However, if you suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, colitis or diverticulitis, or are undergoing treatment for any medical condition, it is always wise to discuss changes to your diet and supplementation with your medical provider.
We have had many customers use our product while pregnant and breastfeeding. The medical research has some articles that warn against using soluble fibers for these reasons:
- If you take too much with your meals, the fiber can bind to nutrients, preventing the nutrients from entering your system. This would require taking high amounts of fiber, but out of precaution, we recommend that Florasophy be taken away from meals when pregnant.
- Too much fiber, too quickly, when your body isn't used to it can cause constipation. On our Getting started page, we recommend that everyone increase soluble fiber slowly to let their microbiome adjust, which prevents negative changes in digestion and bowel movements. Generally, the feedback we've had from mamas-to-be is that Florasophy helped them stay regular throughout pregnancy and after childbirth.
Konjac root, when taken with meals, lowers blood sugar response. If you already have low blood sugar, don't take konjac (or any soluble fiber) with lower-carb meals.
If you're struggling with constipation, the Constipation Relief Add-On Pack alongside Loosen Up is magic!
Florasophy is a safe, organic, natural option for kids suffering constipation. It's important to start slowly with kids, adding 1/2-1 tsp to juice, yogurt or oatmeal. Clinically, we have found that kids suffering constipation have great results by adding Loosen Up alongside 60oz water per day. Other helpful tips include using electrolytes like Nuun once a day to help with hydration and stool consistency. In addition we often find that 200-300mg magnesium citrate per night is also helpful in instance of constipation. Lastly, dairy and gluten are the most common triggers of constipation in kids so that may be a consideration as well.
Taking Florasophy

If your body isn’t used to metabolizing and breaking down soluble fiber, you need to give your body time to adjust. Most new users of Florasophy have best results starting with 1 teaspoon of Florasophy along with an extra glass of water every day. Get more tips on getting started with Florasophy.
We recommend Loosen Up if your primary concern is constipation, Firm Up if your primary concern is diarrhea and loose stools, and Daily Fix if your primary goals include hormone regulation, detoxification, blood sugar balance, metabolism, digestive function or health maintenance. For dosing recommendations for a variousof health conditions, see our Clincial use guide.
Florasophy's no-added-anything formulas are designed to allow for users to create their own favorite ways of easily adding a soluble fiber boost each day. Here are some of the post popular ways to take Florasophy.
There are a couple things to note if you're taking it by the spoonful. Firstly, increased fiber requires increased water consumption, so you'll want to make sure you're adding enough water to your daily routine to support the Florasophy. Secondly, and this is really important, powdered soluble fiber can be a choking hazard. It naturally seeks moisture and could attach to the moisture in your mouth/throat and cause unexpected choking. As the product manufacturer, we advise all customers to take Florasophy per the package directions and as detailed on our website.
We created Florasophy specifically to be flavor free. This allows for two things: 1) no artificial additives and 2) you can flavor it to your liking. If you tried it in plain water, try using super cold water and a short shake before taking it quickly. Many users like to stir it into flavored yogurt or shake it in cold juice. If you add it to a smoothie, you won't taste it at all. Kids love it baked into our Florasophy cookies. Here's a link to our recipe section on our blog.
While taking Florasophy in warm liquid does not decrease its effectiveness, it will likely make your Florasophy more gel-like prior to consumption. This is a personal choice, but Florasophy founders Megan and Lee prefer to take Florasophy in the coldest liquid possible, or a smoothie.
Timing depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
Benefits of taking Florasophy with meals: reduces blood sugar spikes, prevents absorption of dietary fat, improves satiety and prevents overeating, and improves constipation.
Benefits of taking Florasophy between (or away from) meals: binds less with dietary fat and more with excess hormones and cholesterol, improves diarrhea, and detoxifies faster.
For more information about timing your intake of Florasophy, visit our clinical use guide.
We suggest taking Florasophy away from fat-soluble supplements such as vitamins A,D,E, K or Omega-3 because soluble fiber binds to fat. Minerals and water-soluble vitamins are just fine to take with Florasophy.
Depending on how much soluble fiber you're currently getting in your diet, you may need more or less supplementation. We recommend starting slowly so your gut can adjust to increased soluble fiber intake. Begin with 1 teaspoon per day and one extra glass of water. Increase your Florasophy dose by an additional teaspoon per week until you find your sweet spot. We do not recommend consuming more than 3 tablespoons (9 teaspoons) per day. Average intake is between 1-2 tablespoons per day. Please see our clincial use guide for more specfic dosing recommendations for various health conditions.
Used therapeutically, Florasophy supports the improvement of many medical conditions including IBS (D&C), hypercholesterolemia, gallbladder conditions, glucose management, hormone imbalance, breast cancer prevention and weight management. Learn more about specific use recommendations on our clinical use guide.
For every 1 teaspoon of Florasophy taken per day, we recommend increasing water intake by 8 ounces to prevent excess fluid absorption and constipation. This means that if you take 1 tablespoon per day, you need to consume an additional 24 ounces of water.
If you’re using Florasophy for digestive health or loose/hard stools, you should experience improvements within 2 weeks. If you're using Florasophy for other benefits such as hormone balance, blood sugar balance, metabolism or cardiovascular health, track results after 3 months. Keeping a journal or scheduling labs with your provider is a helpful way to track measurable benefits.
In some people, Florasophy can lead to bloating. Bloating can be temporary as the gut adjusts to increased fiber intake. However, for some people bloating might be due to inflammatory conditions or microbiome imbalances in the gut. If you suffer from gastrointestinal or inflammatory conditions, pay attention to bloating and contact your provider if bloating does not improve after a week of use.
